8 Home Remedies to Cure Sunburn

When the weather’s nice, everyone wants to be out in the sun. But if you are not prepared, you could end up with a nasty sunburn. It is a painful and irritating condition that could take weeks or even months to heal, depending on its severity. Fortunately, there are some tried and tested home remedies that can soothe your stinging skin. Here are eight home remedies you can try.

1. Compress with cold water
Soak a washcloth in cold water and apply it directly to the burnt areas. Make sure you don’t apply ice packs or ice directly to the sunburnt part as it can worsen the situation. Apply washcloth on the affected area multiple times a day, for at least 20-30 minutes. The cold water reduces the swelling and whisks away heat from your skin.

3. Teabags
Fill a pitcher with warm water and soak three tea bags until the water is almost pitch black. Soak a small towel and apply it to the areas with sunburn. The components of the tea (like tannic acid) with the water help soothe the skin and speed recovery. Teabags are sold per box at any of the malls in Manila, Philippines.
